Foot Care Clincs Assist Seniors

Horn Memorial Community Health Services provides foot care clinics to persons who may have problems performing this care themselves due to visual or other physical limitations.  At the clinics, a registered nurse will soak and inspect the feet; clean, trim and file toenails; lotion the feet and provide education.  “One of the main goals of this service is to reduce preventable foot health problems,” states Erin Dausel, Community Health Nurse. “Better foot care, may prevent many foot problems.  If we see a person with foot problems, we refer them to their healthcare provider or a podiatrist.”

The clinics are provided every other month in Holstein and Ida Grove by appointment only.   “We find that nail care every two months is usually sufficient for most individuals,” states Patti Andrews, Community Health Nurse.

There is a suggested donation of $25.00 for those able to pay; however, no one will be refused service if unable to contribute.  This clinic is funded in part by a grant from the Iowa Department of Public Health and county funds.  To schedule an appointment or if you have any questions, please call Horn Memorial Community Health at 712.364.7311.
